Atlanta Children’s Day Shelter (ACDS) is hosting its annual Legacy Builders Celebration on Wednesday, April 30, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Taking place at The Atrium at Uptown Atlanta, the event will commemorate the nonprofit’s almost four-decade-long mission of supporting local families experiencing homelessness.
During the evening, ACDS will be presenting its Legacy Builders Award to a former client, an honor that will recognize them for their “outstanding work creating self-sufficiency for themselves and their family,” according to the nonprofit.
Additionally, Rose Scott — host of WABE’s Closer Look podcast — will lead a fireside chat discussing a number of topics impacting Atlanta families, such as early childhood education speech services, affordable housing and adult mental health services.
“This celebration represents our commitment to building a legacy of positive change in Atlanta,” said Cameron Turner, executive director of Atlanta Children’s Day Shelter.
“For 39 years, we’ve supported more than 5,000 families and nearly 8,000 children. This event allows us to reflect on our journey while recommitting to our vision of an Atlanta where homelessness is defeated and every child has a safe and nurturing home.”
Attendees of the event will get to enjoy a variety of small food plates, signature cocktails, along with an open bar — all of which will be experienced under The Atrium’s glass ceiling, providing guests with a clear view of the night’s sky, according to ACDS.
