
Atlanta City Councilmember Marci Collier Overstreet has officially announced her candidacy for City Council President.
Overstreet has served District 11 in southwest Atlanta for the past eight years. She is the first candidate to announce to fill the seat being vacated by Doug Shipman, who announced his intention not to seek a second term due to family medical issues.
“I am a candidate for city council president because I believe I have the experience, expertise, and empathy to help advance the quality of life for all of the people in the City of Atlanta,” Overstreet said in a press release.
The election for mayor and the entire city council is Nov. 4, 2025.
Overstreet said her agenda included public safety and community policing, economic mobility for residents, and transportation.
