The Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus is set to perform at the legendary concert venue, Carnegie Hall, on Sunday, May 11.
Conducted by Donald Milton III, the local performing arts group will be performing Lux Aeterna by Morten Lauridsen, with the New England Symphonic Ensemble accompanying them.
Founded in 1981, the Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus stands as one of only five LGBT chorus groups in the world, renowned for audibly-stunning music performances such as their annual holiday concert, as well as their upcoming “Disney PRIDE” show.
“We are thrilled to showcase the exceptional talent of Donald Milton III, on one of the world’s most prestigious stages,” said James E. Redcay III, chief executive officer of MidAmerica Productions, the production company behind the upcoming Carnegie Hall show.
“The invitation extended to the Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus is a testament to the outstanding musicianship and dedication of their singers. We are proud to welcome them to perform as part of our 42nd season at Carnegie Hall.”
Joining the Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus at the upcoming Carnegie Hall concert is fellow local music group, the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta Choir — who will also be led by Milton III.
Other music ensembles that will be taking part in the show include Brighton Choir, Chattanooga Symphony & Opera Chorus, LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts (from New York), Memphis Central Concert Singers, The Ohio State University Women’s Glee Club and more.
Prior to the concert, all of the participants will spend five days in New York City to rehearse and prepare for the event, as well as to take in the sights of the Big Apple.
Tickets for the concert begin at $25 and can be purchased through CarnegieCharge at (212) 247-7800 or online at carnegiehall.org.
