Brookhaven is home to several unique parks, each offering a variety of experiences for all to enjoy. The city’s parks are more than places for recreation – they are a place to create community. Anyone can experience the Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival at Blackburn Park, or a peaceful afternoon fishing at Murphey Candler Park.
“Brookhaven is dedicated to creating a quality park system that enhances the community, increases quality of life through passive and active opportunities, and offers something for everyone to enjoy,” said Parks and Recreation Director Michael King.
Ashford Park
Ashford Park is not your usual park, with a selection of toys available at the playground. Here, parents whose children have outgrown their toys “donate” them to the park for anyone to use.
Not only does Ashford Park have readily available toys, but also a playground, splash pad, and tennis courts to enjoy on nice weather days. In addition to the outdoor features, there is a community center, perfect for community events and meetings. The space includes a full kitchen for cooking needs.
Blackburn Park
Blackburn Park has a lot to offer as home of the Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival, Light Up Brookhaven, Food Truck Nights, Touch A Truck, and several other annual events. Every year Blackburn has visits from Santa and the Easter Bunny!
The 51-acre park houses a baseball/softball field, soccer fields, and tennis courts. The trail around the park offers a peaceful place to run, walk, or cycle. The park houses a community garden, pavilions, playgrounds, and plenty greenspace for a picnic at the park.
Briarwood Park
The swimming facility at Briarwood Park is home base for the Briarwood Barracudas swim team. Brookhaven Recreational Swim League coaches and volunteers help swimmers learn, practice, and refine freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly skills.
Briarwood Park offers visitors a community and recreation center, a newly renovated community garden, swimming pools, tennis courts, and trails.
Brookhaven Park
Brookhaven Park features a brand-new playground, with one of the tallest structures in the U.S. Here, there are five acres of greenspace dedicated exclusively for off-leash dogs.
Although a popular spot for dogs, the park is also perfect for walking, picnicking, or sliding down one the new slides. In December, enjoy Brookhaven’s own ice-skating rink at Brookhaven Park.

Lynwood Park
Historic Lynwood Park is home to the Lynwood Rattlers, and former school of the Lynwood trailblazers, who bravely integrated during the Civil Rights era. The park annually hosts the Lynwood Park Community Day. The day kicks off with a parade and includes a cookout, live music, and fun games and activities.
The park provides inside and outside basketball courts and pools for the community to enjoy. Around the Historic Lynwood Recreation Center, many will see our Parks and Recreation staff holding down the fort.
Murphey Candler Park
At 135 acres, Murphey Candler Park is the largest park in the Metro Atlanta region, offering multi-use fields, tennis courts, a swimming pool, a playground, picnic areas, a lake, and trails. The lake at Murphey Candler Park offers fishing, and is home to largemouth bass, bluegill, sunfish, and channel catfish.

Additionally, various sports are offered such as baseball, softball, and football programs that operate throughout the park.
Murphey Candler Park is also home to The Marlins, a community-based swim team that provides children an opportunity to engage in competitive swimming.
