Our Rough Draft team is compiling a list of closures, delays and cancellations that affect our coverage area, as well as a list of food-related events that may be delayed or cancelled because of the weather conditions.
Schools
DeKalb County Schools has declared an asynchronous learning day for students Jan. 10 and a remote work day for teachers.
Fulton County Schools and all administrative offices will be closed Friday, Jan. 10. Students will have a remote learning day. Teachers will communicate with their students regarding instructional expectations.
All extracurricular activities have been canceled, including after-school and evening meetings, extended day programs/after-school care, tutorials, clubs, athletic practices and games as well as other events specified by individual schools. Friday field trips, overnight field trips occurring Thursday night/Friday morning and extracurricular activities planned for Saturday and Sunday also are canceled. Any exceptions will be communicated directly by the school principal.
Atlanta Public Schools will be closed on Friday, Jan. 10, due to inclement weather. Schools will communicate continued learning plans to families for Friday, January 10, 2025. Extracurricular activities scheduled for Thursday, January 9, 2025 will continue as scheduled. All extracurricular activities scheduled for Friday and Saturday have been canceled. District offices will operate remotely.
Decatur City Schools and buildings, including ECLC and the Frasier Center, will be closed tomorrow, Jan. 10. All athletic and after-school activities for Friday and Saturday are canceled.
Out of an abundance of caution in case of a continued closure on or beyond Monday, Jan. 13, students in grades K-5 and Adapted Curriculum classes will be sent home with work packets and a CSD Chromebook for an independent learning day. Grades 6-12 will continue to take Chromebooks and chargers home to access Google Classroom for assigned work.
Oglethorpe University is moving to a hybrid work and instruction format. Classes will not be cancelled on Jan. 10 but will move to remote instruction (online meeting or asynchronous assignments). Faculty will notify their students regarding their class plan for the day.
Essential employees should plan to report as usual but travel carefully given conditions. Contact your supervisor if reaching campus will be a safety hazard.
All other employees should plan to work remotely Friday. Students can access campus services such as Student Success, Registrar, and Finance through email and Teams. All those on campus should be mindful of their safety with icing on sidewalks and roads. Throughout the weekend Facilities will be salting and keeping sidewalks clear to residence halls, the Turner Lynch Campus Center, Lowry Hall and academic buildings.
Clark Atlanta University and the Lovett School have announced they will move to remote learning on Friday, while Gwinnett Technical College will be closed Friday and Saturday.
Events
Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will Atlanta Symphony Orchestra has decided to postpone its performance of “The Four Seasons,” which had been scheduled for Jan. 10.
The new concert date is Tuesday, March 11, at 8 p.m. Ticketholders who can attend this new date do not need to take any action, as their ticket will be updated automatically.

At this time, Sunday’s concert will be performed at its scheduled time, though staff will continue to monitor weather reports to evaluate the impact of the storm.
