The Little Shop of Stories Children’s Book Festival is set to return on May 2-4 bringing a celebration of all things literature to the city of Atlanta.
Formerly known as the Decatur Children’s Book Festival, the annual literary event will be held outdoors alongside the Decatur Arts Festival — a two-day attraction that features a variety of artist booths and performances.
This year’s book festival will feature a diverse lineup of renowned children’s and young adult authors, graphic novelists, and illustrators.
Additionally, the festival will also include a keynote event on the Friday, a pair of lively parades on the Saturday and Sunday, along with numerous visits to local schools from various authors.
Hosting the event is Little Shop of Stories, an award-winning children’s bookstore that is known for its “robust event programming and creative school and community partnerships,” according to a release.
Founded in 2005, the Atlanta shop has hosted several top authors and illustrators throughout its long history, as well as helped develop and expand children’s and YA programming for the Decatur Book Festival — before it became the Little Shop of Stories Children’s Book Festival.
“We are excited to share our festival footprint with the Decatur Arts Festival this year and think our new location will bring fans of kid and YA lit out to celebrate the power of books and reading,” said Diane Capriola, co-owner of Little Shop of Stories. “We believe that children’s books are works of art so we can’t think of a better way to share that sentiment than to partner with the Decatur Arts Festival!”
The main stage events are all free to attend, while other festival events may require a fee, said Little Shop of Stories.
