The owners of King of Pops just sold part of their company to rapidly expand distribution of its hand-crafted popsicles and creamsicles.
Nick and Steven Carse sold P10 Foods – the wholesale distribution arm of King of Pops – to Rainforest Distribution earlier this week. The acquisition by Rainforest Distribution provides an outside investment boost and will allow King of Pops and its umbrella of brands to expand to markets beyond the South. It also allows for more franchising opportunities.
The Carse brothers founded King of Pops in 2010 with just $2,000 and a second-hand ice cream pushcart. Over the last 15 years, the pushcart canopied by a rainbow umbrella has become part of the King of Pops branding.
King of Pops carts are found stationed throughout Atlanta and Metro Atlanta, including at outdoor events and festivals and along the Beltline. Permanent King of Pops locations include Ponce City Market, Colony Square in Midtown, and the company’s headquarters on DeKalb Avenue in the Old Fourth Ward. All three locations feature bars serving boozy pop-tails, popsicles, soft serve, and other desserts.
