The silver Airstream that once hosted Banjo Coffee’s Beltline location now houses Stroll Coffee y Snacks, a collaboration between Andy Bibliowicz of Atlanta Collaborative, Luis Enrique of Chispas Snacks, and Marissa Childers of Tanbrown Coffee.
Situated at the corner of 10th and Monroe beyond the entrance to Park Tavern in Midtown, the space unites the innovative Asian-owned coffee pop-up with the mobile Latin street food cart in one set location. As a mini collective of entrepreneurs, Stroll provides space to whoever wants to get involved, adding to the collaborative nature of the project.
The trio became acquainted through Atlanta’s dining scene (Bibliowicz is a regular at So Ba Vietnamese restaurant in East Atlanta Village, where Enrique worked before launching Chispas Snacks, and the two met Childers through mutual industry connections.) Stroll, along with other ideas, has been in the works for a while — Bibliowicz and Childers were already working together on opening a container coffee shop on the Beltline. The original plans fell through, but Bibliowicz and Enrique maintained their friendship.
Then, the owners of Avondale Estates-based Banjo Coffee serendipitously decided to sublease their Midtown Airstream location just steps from Piedmont Park and the newly opened portion of the Beltline.
Stroll’s key distinction is its communal strategy, which demonstrates how intentional the shop is about becoming part of the neighborhood. A quick scroll through its Instagram highlights collaborations with other businesses, including Musette Bikes, Yoga.Atl, and Superpana Bakeshop, with additional pop-up events pending.
“We are all about collaboration in any way we can,” Bibliowicz said. “It’s a big piece of our business mindset.”
Stroll officially opened in mid-November and is finally getting into a groove. Much of this comes from the added patio featuring bright yellow cafe tables and chairs and heat lamps, making Stroll enjoyable even in the cold. Uptempo music pumping from the speakers and a squiggly yellow neon “Open” sign serve as Stroll’s calling cards, capturing people’s attention as they head to and from Piedmont Park or the Beltline.
Bibliowicz said neighborhood customers tend to frequent Stroll on Wednesdays and Thursdays, while on Fridays and weekends, more people from the greater Atlanta community hit up the Airstream for coffee and snacks during visits to Piedmont Park and the Beltline.
For those unfamiliar with Childers and Tanbrown Coffee, expect a sophisticated understanding of flavors when it comes to the drinks menu at Stroll. The Chocolate Orange Einspanner, for example, blends espresso, orange foam, cocoa powder, and a hint of cayenne pepper. It’s garnished with a dehydrated orange wheel.
In addition to coffee, hot chocolate, and chai, the food menu includes breakfast burritos, tacos, and granola bowls, as well as snacks easy for people to eat on the go, such as cast-iron-prepared esquites (corn in a cup), empanadas, churros, and frutas locas (assortments of fruits, chamoy, and toppings). Friday through Sunday, Stroll serves more substantial breakfast specials.
